The monster makes short work of them, and Hickey severs his tongue - which is part of the Netsilik ritual to bind a person's soul with the Tuunbag - but the monster rejects his tainted soul and bites his arm off. Hickey is soon torn in half, and Cozier wraps a chain around the monster's neck and chokes it to death.
